Whether we agree or not, the reality is, from every religious sect a significant portion of people are shifting towards secular lifestyle; knowingly or unknowingly; willingly or unwillingly. This tendency must have a sociological cause behind. The tasty concept behind being secular is, it says you don’t have to deny your religious beliefs, rather embrace it with others and don’t let it enter in your daily lifestyle, specifically on economic and sociological activities and control you. Indulge into its beauty as like you indulge in your life time achievements. Use it to dignify you but don’t let it disconnect you from the world’s cultural heritage of free and fair unlimited opportunities. there might be many conspiracy theory regarding this issue but as a simple eye observation, here is what I think is reason behind. When ever you ask a Muslim about Islam, they will say, Oh! it is the fast growing, fast spreading religion in the world now a day and though western world try to color it as a source of evil terrorist motivator by misinterpreting its creed, it is the only trustworthy religion in the world. Some will say, look, every knowledge and every scientific invention has been explained in the Holly Qurán 1400 years ago and the scientists discovered their invention through Quránic verses. There are others who are more pious and due to their overwhelming emotion towards heavenly books and scriptures, their judgment is blurred and more biased. Other religious people are same alike Mollahs (the word Mollha is usually used for naming extremist and blind-n-block minded religious preacher) and they will call people to closed mindset where doing things beyond their prescribed ruling would be a sin, they are alike dark age clergies or their attitude is such like and they try to create their own clan. An educated person, who have cultured his mind in such a way that he can explore reality beyond any limitation and can’t accept blind faith so easily will not be able to comprehend what these people are preaching about. Modern day personality grows in a way that they have the ability to simulate different optional reality and can predict whether that would satisfy appropriation and justice. The Mollahs and or the clergy will try to put one in a box then drive him to heaven (or hell maybe) as per their definition. Seeing such and so the general minds seek escape doors and by default fall into secularism (free, fare and impartial), this is the primary reasoning for the proposed discussion, the crux of the discussion shall follow whether secularism should be preferred over religion and if that would be a good idea.
Why shouldn’t I be religious?
I can tell you about myself, I use to seek fundamental questions of life and its objectives, these core query on man, life and the universe were never answered with full conclusive manner by anyone to me in my early age, though many have explained it in their way, I found those explanations had flaws in their thinking pattern. Therefore, I started to seek answers elsewhere and found it reading several books, at a point of time I stopped and told myself, lets fix some basic questions and ask people to answer them. If they can answer the query in full conclusive manner, then I shall follow what they say. The tricky part of the questions was, I knew the answer pattern of those questions. The person who can answer them has to draw line from certain school of thoughts, he also has to explain why those questions forms in human mind. My known relatives and teachers couldn’t answer them, neither couldn’t any well known scholar known to me, I was upset for two years carrying those questions and didn’t let me proceed any further. At a letter point of time one leaflet titled ‘Blind faith or intellectual belief’ was left over my office desk, returning to my desk and seeing it, I realized these people who are behind this flyer can properly answer me the questions burning in my mind. I went to participate in that seminar but didn’t wait till end, rather left a note, saying please send some one so that I can discuss the issue. Being in that seminar for half an hour I was certain that I found the people I was looking for. One man came and we discussed, I referred to those questions and he took time for thinking, in next few sessions I was surprised to see that though he couldn’t answer me my questions as I thought but his talks shifted my view point in a higher level from where I myself could answer them better. I accepted him as a guide to further knowledge.
This is what happens in most cases, they pull you into one-point agreement, then they can pull you to any sort of understanding. I am not telling that all such persuasion is intend to ill motives, as in my case the person who came to discuss my thoughts pulled me to the straight path, I was happy to find people of similar mindset and I learned a lot after that. From that person to the similar minded others I found them more pious and possessing higher knowledge. I participated with them in various events like, arranging seminars, talk shows and discussion circles. they were good and smart, with higher understanding. The time when they were gone one by one, all our collective efforts fell down slowly. Sometime I am amazed by the fact that it is always the people behind or more specifically the single person behind any initiative that makes it brighter, the leadership is so much important in human initiatives. From football game teamwork to industrial establishment or religious propaganda what ever you do it is always a person behind. Nothing works, no paper works, no literature works unless the person behind talks for it or get involve with the process.
After the departure of these people I found, Corruptions came in, Contradictions and different views raised on issues which were not to be conflicted otherwise. I paused my thoughts again, as I am alone now, I started my own exploration and experimentation over again. In general, what would have happened in any person’s case? would be like, he would have become blurred with different opinion presented to him and finding no way he would have surrendered to complete blindness and start following another who claims to be the guide to everything all right, or who claims to know the theory of everything. As the person have decided to trust him therefore blindly follows him and converts into so called religious person. An extreme Atheist may say those who submit to religious belief is because of his inability to face the challenges of reality. They would have submitted into any religion readily available. After submission one can find plug and play escape to tranquility, as from then and there nothing is in his hand, everything is fate and destiny. He denies to think and keep on depending on the explanation given. He chooses to be religious because he found the Truth.
Evolving definition of Religion
Today’s religion is simply Scientific Wisdom. Many may not agree knowing a simple man like me said so. If it was from a famous person, they would have given a second thought. The purpose of knowledge defines its wisdom; you forget the purpose the knowledge is simply useless theories. Without a purpose you may simply mumble and deliver nothing. Religious thought is a term we use today but think on those days when people started thinking and preserving their thoughts into papers or over stones or on cave wall paintings. Explaining objectivity and purpose of this revolving reality was a BIG question for them, thoughts related to this may have been termed as philosophy by someone in those days, some explained that entire universe is balanced over a shell, they believed it blindly, simply because it satisfied their sanctification instinct. Some explained that entire universe is build with five basic elements and their interaction creates all the happenings of this world. That was philosophy in their time, that philosophy evolved over time and some people started figuring out the interpretation of the Nature by numbers and they termed it science, the scientific discoveries moved the philosophical understanding and that evolved as well. Logical reasoning, philosophy and science and their objectivity is same, explaining the Nature. Aren’t they trying in different means but with similar objective? We simply can understand that their objective was same and they are trying to interpret the Nature and its fast forwarding reality. Well there is a slight difference perhaps, Philosophy have think tanks, Science has its laboratory and the Religion has its rituals. Basically Human is Animal like creatures with a thinking mind, taking out the thinking mind, you may find a goat or a cow or a donkey leaving behind. In some case now a day you will find elephants, as a contribution of the food factories.
Don’t you think that the new religion has its rituals too?
As like every religious revolution this new undiscovered religion has its rituals too, some can see it and some thinks it is normal phenomenon. Well many would disagree on this assumption, so let me put some example, say for example you forgot your wife’s birthday, what consequences would you expect? There are other days too, valentine’s day, world Friendship day, Father’s day, women’s day and so on. The new religion has four unlimited freedoms, viz. freedom or ownership, freedom of belief, freedom of speech and personal freedom, though these look like the doctrine of democracy these beliefs actually has shifted to the understanding of life in this universe. This religion prescribes these to be imperative. This religion won’t let you transact by gold other than feat currency. It won’t let you drive your economy interest free. As for the religion is new and it has lot of freedom inside it, new rituals are man made and can be altered anytime, thus the innovation of human mind gets a pleasure to form the rituals and alter them as per need. Question is who are the Mollas of this religion? As far as I can see, the secular university professors, the secular elite business personnel help shape the entire religious environment, as a modern day religion, they don’t need community centers to spread the creed of the religion, rather people in general find them in their hotels, night clubs and resorts. In other word these hotels, night clubs and the resorts are the monasteries of the new religion.
Changed lifestyle forced by Scientific innovation
Scientific innovation is another reason for accepting secular lifestyle. When general people know about heart transplantation, robotic body parts, correcting genetic errors, birth control pills, they think a bit further that soon science will invent a pill which will cure all illness and the mother illness is the death itself, so one-day science will invent a pill curing decay and death, but they can’t think beyond that, if an eternal life could be a reality to him whether that would be pleasant or boring? What then he would have done with a time which never ends. Among the religious people they don’t ask about it either as they have some pre-fixed answers like in the eternal life hereafter will have all the pleasure and for that they abandon the pleasure of the earthly life. The time for one, which shall end at an uncertain point of time and this life in which he is conscious is going through re occurring day night with background rhythm of changing weather is the most charming fact of living. Say for the sake of simulating science invents a pill curing decay and death, how would one behave towards life? I think it will be the same, continuous struggle to capture wealth ensuring future worry free living. Human race then shall be directed to populate the entire universe.
Why would one ask for pleasure in hereafter if he can get it here?
There were slaves in Rome, isn’t there slave’s today? In fact, in the obscure creed of this world culture (the new religion) the slavery has been incorporated in to various versions. And there are Lords, by name or by no name. They have the ability to create a desired platform anywhere in the world, ask them if they need a problem free life hereafter? I don’t think so, if they can create a heaven in this earth why then they may need another hereafter, and if science can invent death cured pill or by genetic correction if death can be escaped, then the concept of hereafter shall become fairy tale. This predictive reality keeps on gaining strength as science has proven many time on what has been predicted has been brought to reality though it faced barriers in the process of invention.
Isn’t Science box inside box tends to infinity
Even though general people will keep ultimate faith in Science and its predictions, simply because it’s innovations are dominating their life. It does not predict about hereafter as because it do not have one in mind. Rather it tries to extend this time to eternal form. Science is an observational study of this Nature said someone long ago, but it is now shaping up human lifestyle, and trying to tell its future. Religious beliefs died, philosophy died too; only Scientific belief is living today.
Whether you agree or not, you can’t stop the change, time will crawl and reality will proceed with it. Understanding the sublime attributes of time therefore is an imperative in order to understand this reality change patterns.
