RIVERSHORE SPORTS ARENA, RAYER BAZAAR, HAZARIBAG

On 29th November, 2024 me and my parents started driving to the River shore Sports Arena. My dad was going to a Futsal event in Hazaribag, beside the Buriganga river. Futsal means a modified form of football played with five players per side on a smaller, typically indoor, pitch. My dad was a player in the event, and so me and my mom also decided to go.

It was a long trip to Hazaribag. There were many ssc-hsc batches there. The oldest batch there was the 81-83 batch. DExSA means "Dhanmondi  Boys Govt. High School's (Estd. 1965) Ex-student's Association. In earlier times the Rivershore sports arena was called the Sand Field (বালুর মাঠ). My dad was in the 89 SSC batch and was playing against the 94-96 batch, who were 7 years younger.

The arena had an astroturf field instead of sand. My father's match  started a few minutes later. Many of my dad's friends were there. A few people were late to the match, like my dad's close friend Runu uncle, who was also in the 89 batch.

After the match began, the 94-96 batch had already fired a goal. They were more fit and were younger, so they had the better chance of winning. After a few minutes the 94-96 batch won.

After the 94-96 batch won we decided to explore the area beside the Buriganga river. There was a long walkway that lay beside the river. There was a very steep incline after the barriers, after which was where the river flowed. After a long walk, we reached a dock where people could cross the buriganga river by boat.

My dad spoke to one of the majhi's and he agreed to take us on a boat ride for an hour.Runu uncle's wife, Sonia aunty, was scared on getting on the boat, since the waves rocked the boat a lot. However, the majhi eventually convinced her to get on the boat. There were many cargo vessels and boats on the water. We saw a lot of Kuchuripana plants on the water. After a barge passed by us, our boat was rocked by the waves. The boat was very low to the ground, both when we were getting on and during the boat ride. The ride was very enjoyable but it was also very thrilling, as when we were getting off the boat felt like it would sink.

As we came near the docks we saw more and more boats. After the boat ride was over we all headed back home. This was my first time going to a futsal match. This was also the first time I went on the Buriganga river on a boat ride.

Finally uploaded in Blogspot on 12-Mar-2025.
