Winter Vacation in Moucha, Munshagonj (Written by Mushfika Mustafa ProDipty)

This year winter came early, after the flood water just went down, the villages in our country were about to start their renovated new living. We live in urban area, therefore flood didn’t affect us at all, though we felt the suffering of the flood affected people living in village areas and those people were living as flood victim.

It was early December 2020, one day my Father told us that we are to visit our village home in Moucha, Loughagonj on the Victory day of Bangladesh. That is 16th December, we shall start and stay there for a night and then return to our daily life. I was a bit surprised and a bit upset that it was a short notice vacation and only for one night. though I was very excited about this short visit to our home town. Now that I have passed the time, I can assure you that plenty of memories are now with me to tell you. Yes it was a short time but many things happened. Let me share my memory with you, here is what happened from the start to end of our short journey, a night stay and return from the land of Padma Bridge.

It was almost afternoon when we started our journey. It was a long distance to go but we reached there early in the afternoon. Since there was a change of plan, we decided to visit the Maowa ghat and spend some time there together. We walked along the river side and hired a small boat. I was astonished to see the huge structure of the padma bridge as the boat got near the bridge.

The evening was gradually turning to dusk, we decided to finish our boat journey and go towards our grandpa’s house in Moucha, Louhajong. In the way, we found busy traffic, instead of being stuck inside the car, we all got out and walked all the way towards our village home. While walking my elder sister saw a kitten sitting beside the road. It was scared, lost and was crying for help. My sister picked it up and carried it in a polythene bag. It was trying to get out of the bag. My elder sister tried to hold the kitten properly. But still it was moving continuously. As it was frightened and maybe was thinking that it was in lot of danger. So she took it out from the polythene bag and carried it in her hands with some clothes wrapped around the kitten. Finally we reached at our grandfather’s house. Then my elder sister put the kitten in small box. She gave the kitten some food and water. After it ate the kitten fell asleep. After this, we took some rest, had our dinner and then went to sleep. We woke up in the morning when the kitten was crying. My sister thought that it was hungry. So she gave it some leftover food and water to drink. When my sister opened the box, the kitten somehow jumped out and started to roam around the house.

As we had our breakfast we went outside for some fresh air and to walk around to see our village home. In front of my village home, there was a big field. We spent some time there. After having tea, we packed our bags and put them inside the car. Then we started to return towards Dhaka City. Along the way, there was some traffic. But finally we returned home at noon. We all were very tired after such a long journey.

The amazing  fact here is that within such a short time so many things happened one after another. It often doesn’t happen twice. So as per my opinion, the memories should be treasured as written or in any other formats for the remembrance in our future life.
